February 2017 – Welcome back.

Let us welcome you back to another fun filled, informative, creative year.

February Sunday 26 Field Trip 2017
Mt Uncle Distillery
1819 Chewko Road, Walkamin.

Walkamin is about half way between Mareeba and Atherton on the Kennedy Highway. Approaching from Mareeba, turn right at Walkamin where there is a sign to Mt Uncle. The restaurant is open at 10am and lunch served from 12 midday. The setting is absolutely beautiful and the restaurant meals are first class and I will try to get access to the distillery for photographs when I know final numbers. This is a rain, hail or shine outing as there is plenty to do and photograph inside the massive restaurant and tasting rooms if the day is wet. Outside there is a small zoo with peacocks, donkeys, alpacas, etc.  We will need to advise the restaurant of numbers for lunch so we will ask for those interested to sign up on Thursday night during our meeting.

First meeting of the year: Thursday 9 February.
This meeting will be packed with a lot of stimulating talks by Rob Harris and meet your member Peter Hall, short movie with astounding imagery from New Zealand, Competition/Critique from our December OPEN and the Portfolio results.
And finish up with our Field Trip Slideshow: Goomboora Park and Limberlost.
(Bring a drink and cushion)
Make sure you are seated for 7pm start.  As always, we welcome visitors to attend.

And please keep an eye out on our Monthly Calendar on our webpage.

February Competition:
Motion &/or Blur (digital)

Motion – of things. A picture in which our visual senses tell us that the subject must have been moving when the picture was taken.
It may be depicted in a sharp image or by deliberate use of blur by allowing the focus to become soft due to subject or camera movement, including, capturing motion of anything by using slow shutter speed, or even using 2nd curtain sync flash.
The image may include deliberate un-sharp image areas caused by subject or camera movement, or by selective or incorrect focusing or intentional camera movement.

Here a few examples of possibilities:
Did you know that you can catch up on all our Field Trips going back to July 2011.
That would keep you busy watching all these slideshows this wet season.

  • Right on the beach you are only minutes away from the many attractions of the Cassowary Coast.

Hope to have a good roll up.  Remember it is not stinger season yet and the ocean will be beckoning. And you could have a lot of fun trying out selfies for November competition !!
